Coal PR Disaster Pt 1: People in Kent are stupid
People from Kent: Stupid, according to the coal industry.
A gem from McClosky’s coal bulletin (the news and views journal for the UK coal industry), regarding the aquittal of 6 Greenpeace activists from the charge of criminal damage for painting ‘GORDON’ on the chimney at Kingsnorth power station in Kent:
However, a jury of their peers then founds that they had not committed a crime becasue they were trying to save the planet. Admittedly these jurors were from Kent, so the verdict was perhaps less of a suprise than it might appear…
Now it’s difficult to know exactly what they mean here… Do they mean:
a) It’s quite understandable that people from Kent would side with people protesting against a new coal power station - rather implying that a new coal power station would not be a good thing for the people of Kent…
or
b) People in Kent are stupid
I think we should be told!
