Our friends in London, the Campaign Against Climate Change…

On Tuesday, our friends in London also decided to expose some “fossil fools” connected to the Ffos-y-Fran mine.

The Campaign against Climate Change (www.campaigncc.org) organised a demo outside the offices of Argent PLC – one half of the Miller Argent consortium digging the biggest coal mine in Wales at Ffos-y-Fran. Rather ironically, they state “We are trying to deliver lower energy, greener buildings in the right locations.” And what about the 30 million tonnes of CO2 you’re helping belch into the atmosphere at Ffos-y-Fran?!

They were protesting outside the London offices at 5, Albany Courtyard 3.00 -6.30 pm

“Our thanks to the Metropolitan Police force who – having heard us announce the demo earlier on in the day at Parliament Square at a People & Planet anti-Kingsnorth demo, kindly attracted the attention of the public with two van loads of police even before we got there.

“We gave out 700 leaflets on Ffos-y-Fran out to the public and a fun time was had by all.”

Well done everyone!

I was a local involved in the Ffro-y-fran demo from 0400hrs to 2100hrs to which I feel a debt of gratitude to the many protesters that gathered on our behalf. It takes a great deal of courage to come out and protest in what is happening in the daily lives of others being lied to on how our planet is going into decay. We live at the Ffros-y-fran site listening to the pounding machine noise, the dust, the pollution eminating from 28 mobile machines burning out 1750 litres of fuel five and a half days a week over seventeen hours a day or another way 10 million litres a year. We are not allowed a 500 metre buffer zone like all other opencast sites have in place or a health impact study.

So one asks “Why Us”

The answer must be “Money” What else is driving this scheme when the health of our planet is burned up like the carbon emissions from the 10 million tons of coal they will extract from Ffros-y-fran.

The protest has brought our plight to the masses to that end we here in Merthyr Tydfil are forever in your debt

Thank You
